Cameron announces two new films
Project 880 (Avatar) and Battle Angel are to be his next two films and are to be shot in 3D. Fox agree $10m development fund to finance story and new 3D camera. -
Avatar (Cameron, 2009)
Avatar is released. The budget is estimated at $237m with a $150m marketing budget. Again Cameron goes over budget and Fox get cold feet and acquire additional finance - Ingenious Media and Dune Entertainment fund 51%. Fox do licensing deals with LG and Coca-Cola to generate more finance. News Corp, Fox's parent company, use their corporate structure to help publicise the film - Fox News shoehorns mentions into all its programming on day of release, Fox release it worldwide through globally.
