The first fleet comes to Australia
On the 24th of January 1788 the first fleet arrived in Australia.There were 11 ships and there were 1480 men, women and children onboard.There were mostly British people but there were also Africans, Americans and French convicts. -
Bennelong and Colby
Captain Phillip captured 2 aboriginals called Bennelong and Colby.Colby soon escaped, but Bennelong stayed in the settlement for several months, then slipped away. -
Lady Juliana
Lady Juliana left Plymouth on 29 July 1789, and arrived at Port Jackson on 6 June 1790.She carried 226 female convicts, five died during the journey. -
Tasmania
Over 70,000 men, women and children were transported to Van Diemen's Land(now know as Tasmania)in the early 1800s and many of the places and features they built are still standing today. -
Macquarie
Lachlan Macquarie forms the first police force in the colony. -
Bank of NSW
Sydney 1817, the first bank in Australia, Bank of New South Wales, was made, under the economic authorities of Governor Lachlan Macquarie. -

In 1851 the first Australian gold rush occurred.It was discovered by Edward Hargraves.He was inspired by the California gold rush that happened in 1849
