    The first eleven ships that left England, also known as the First Fleet had contained the convicts and marines that are now acknowledged as the Founders of Australia.
  • Arrival of the First Fleet

    They took 8 Months to arrive at Australia, They first landed in Botany Bay on the 18th of Janurary. It was decided that Botany Bay was not a suitable site for the settlement because water supply and soils were poor. The Fleet sailed on. The members of the First Fleet went ashore at Port Jackson to start a settlement. Captain Arthur Phillip named the place after landing, Sydney Cove, after Lord Sydney, an official who had helped to organise the voyage to Australia.

    On 1851, when a man named Edward Hargraved claimed that he discovered payable gold near Bathurst, New South Wales, at a site Edward Hargraves called Ophir. 8 months later, gold was discovered all over of Victoria. Australia's population increased from 400,000 to 1,000,000 from 1845 to 1896

    On the 28th of July, 1914, Germany declared war of France, Russia and also invaded Belgium. Many of the Europeans decided to move to Australia due to the bombings happening in Germany. This caused a major impact on the Australian Culture as many people arrived bringing more and more traditions into the culture. Australia was becoming more diverse due to this migration. The war ended 4 years later on the 11th of November, 1918.

    After the World War 2, Australia held a massive immigration program to help the people stuck in war wrecked areas. Many people came to Australia looking for a better life and at this time it was mostly British citizens. Over 1 Million British citizens arrived and due to all of these immigrants, the culture even expanded more! Australia was becoming a well fast multicultural country. The British travelled to Australia by boat, each ticket costed 10 pounds and free for the younger children.

    After 10 years of conflict between the North and South Vietnamese, the cititzens decided to migrate over to Australia for a better life. There were over 10,000 imigrates that migrated over to Australia, this was another change to the Australian culture as more tradtional asian culture was brought to Australia, e.g Food, Sports, etc. Many people travelled by Boat or Plane.
  • Modern Migration

    Nowadays, people from all around the world are migrating to Australia for the good education, livable lifestyle or just looking for a better life. These days, everybody migrates via Plane as our technology is a lot better then the times back then, but there is groups of people that migrate by boat, because they have no visas. They're known as the Asylum Seekers.
