  • Before Colonisation

    Up until this point aboriginal people occupied this area of the world. Europeans didn't discover Australia until the 17th century.

  • Bank's Suggestions

    A convict settlement was suggested by Banks. Planned to build it at Botany Bay.

  • Colonisation

    Great Britain started colonizing Australia from the west side. The colonization went strong until 1850. British troops were led by Phillip.

  • Name Change

    The country's previous name "New Holland" was replaced with "Australia".

  • Penal Colony

    Western Australia is now considered to be a "Penal Colony". This is a colony that consists of prisoners from another country.

  • Decolonisation

    British troops are removed from Australia. Most likely caused to it's previous defeat in world war two.

  • Early 1900's Establishment

    Government is established for the newly independent country.

  • Independence

    Rename government as an independent federation.

  • The Flag

    Australian Flag is approved and flown.

  • Ford Expantion

    Ford Motor Company starts production of its product in Gee long Australia.

  • Speedo

    First swimsuit produced using brand name Speedo.

  • Discovery

    Penicillin is developed for the first time medically.

  • Curtin

    Decoration of war on Japan independent from Britain.

  • Curtin

    Curtin forms allegiance with the USA, shifting their allegiance with Britain.

    Australia plays key role in creating the United Nations.
