    In 1831 the British Government claimed New Holland. It was then called Western Australia, people went there to do cheap labour and develop the economy.

    In 1836 the British founded South Australia. It was taken from the southern part of New South Wales.

    In 1847 the British founded North Australia, although they were expanding it since the 1820s.

    In 1851 the colony of Victoria was separated from New South Wales. The border was along the Murray River.

    In 1859 Queensland was created continuing the The eastern South part of the Australian border separating it from New South Wales.

    In 1861 South Australia was expanded to the West Australia border.
