    Convicts Colony

    Starting in 1788 the first fleet of convicts were sent to Australia. They had there entire families with them and began colonizing the new nation. By 1868, 162,000 convicts lived in Australia and thy thought that was enough. That was the last year convicts were sent to Australia.
  • Colonization Begins

    The firs fleet of British ships landed in Botany bay. Later moving to Port Jackson and establishing the first settlement Sydney.
  • Altercations with the Natives.

    Altercations didn't begin until after a decade of colonization when increased population of settlers caused problems for the Aboriginals. Sheep herders wanted land for there herds the natives didn't like that. Come the 1820's troops were deployed to eliminate and stop aboriginal conflicts.
  • Gold Rush

    Edward Hardgraves discovered a small vein of gold near a watering hole. This marked the beginning of the gold rush for Australia. Within a year the discovery brought 370,000 new immigrants. This discovery allowed the nation to bloom economically and Australia prospered.
  • An independent Nation

    At the beginning of 1901 Australia gained there independence as a nation allowing themselves to be economically free from Great Britain. Great Britain passed legislation allowing the six colonies of Australia to govern themselves.
