Australia fought WW2 in South East Asia, North Africa and in Europe. Australia was fighting Japan in Papa New Guinea as they tried to make contact with Australian soil; we also helped our allies to fight Germany like in WW1. The alliances in WW2 were Germany, Italy and Japan as well as some smaller countries and then there were the rest of the world trying to stop them including the countries in the Commonwealth.

Australia helped the Malayan government fight off communists and Guerrillas that were threatening and making attacks on the Government. Australia fought in Malaya using the air force and ground troops. Our allies were the Malayan government.

Australia fought the Korean War at sea, off the shores of Korea. Australia was fighting against North Korea and was allied with South Korea, America. It was brought into the fight due to its obligations as part of the Commonwealth.

Indonesian Confrontation
Australia was involved in an unofficial war that involved Indonesia and Malaysia. Australia was called upon to help intervene by Britain and was mostly under British command. We helped the Malaysians and fought against the Indonesians. We fought in Malaysia and Indonesia.

The First Gulf War
The Gulf War began when Iraq invaded Kuwait because they were their rival oil exporters. The move was condemned and the United Nations asked the board whether their respective countries could assist in helping Kuwait. Australia sent navy vessels to assist and cut off trade routes from Iraq. Australia’s war was uneventful and there were no casualties.
