Captain Cook
The Endeavour circumnavigated and mapped New Zealand before travelling west, where on 19 April 1770 Cook spotted and claimed the east coast of Australia. He named it New South Wales. -

Captain Arthur Phillip
I Captain Arthur Phillip, was asked to lead and captain the ship's taking all the convicts to Australia. It was a very big responsibility but of course I agreed to be Captain. We set off at Portmountb, England 13th May 1787. Then we stop off at Rio de Janeiro 5th of August 1787. On the 19th of January 1788 we finally arrived at Botany Bay. -
The First fleet
Between 1788 and 1850 the English sent over 162,000 convicts to Australia in 806 ships. The first eleven of these ships are today known as the First Fleet. They set up huge prison in Australia. -

I John Adams, was one of the first convicts who came to Australia. The boat that most of us came on was very crowded and cramped. Most the young and elderly died because there were an immense amount of diseases on the boat. The ones like me, who served the months at sea were very lucky. -

I Elisabeth Haywood, was one of the first children who came to Australia as a convict. All I did was still some cloths for some money, and the next minute I was on a boat heading to new land. This was the case for most of us children, doing the littlest things, then going to jail. -

The Commonwealth of Australia was established as a constitutional monarchy (King/Queen). This is called Federation. -

I am from New South Wales and we have a free right here, the women here are happy to vote and share their opinions, while other states have no rights for women to vote. In my opinion women Should have the same right as men do! I feel that we should become a nation. -

Whilst Australia's official head of state is the British monarch (King/Queen), Australia now has its own parliaments and is basically an independent nation. World war 1
In world war 1, 1915 Australia came to help the English men. Australia joined in 1916 and Australia's population went down since a lot of young men died. Now Australia only has 23.13 million (2013)people who are living in Australia. We would have more but lots of them died saving our lives and homes. -

Peter Schaming, Jr.
I sixteen-year-old Peter Schaming, Jr. dropped out of high school and enlisted on going to fight for Australia on April 12, 1917, just one week after the declaration of war. I lied about my age, just to get a place. The first couple of days of the war were the hardest. Gun fires left right and center. There were so many dead bodies no one could keep count. I didn’t no what I got myself into. -
Aboriginal people
The Aboriginal people have been living on Australian land for over 60,000 years. They are darked skinned people and are the original founders of Australia. They live/lived in tribes. There were countless amount of tribes all around Australia. There are not as many now as the was 60,000 years ago. -
Now in 2015
Our connection with Britain is still ongoing. Some connections with Britain and Australia is part of the commonwealth ruled by Queen Elizabeth. We also participate in the Commonwealth games which is held every four years, we speak the same language (english) and the Queen is at the back of our Australian coins and notes. We also have the Union Jack on our flag.
