The First Colonies
In 1788, there were two colonies, New South Wales and New Holland -
Van Diemen's Land
In 1825, not everybody stayed in Sydney. Some people went to Van Diemen's Land (named Tasmania form 1856). At this time, the New South Wales border was moved west and New Holland Became smaller as New South Wales got bigger. -
The Renaming of New Holland
In 1831, The british government claimed the whole of New Holland and it was renamed Western Australia. -
Sothern Australia
South Australia was taken from the Southern part of New South Wales and was established a free colony
