First aboriginals
According to the most recent archaeological evidence, Aboriginal peoples have been living on this land for at least 65,000 years. Back then, Australia & New Guinea were a single island. -
Dutch first arrival
The Dutchs were the first to land in Australia. Yet, aboriginal people fight them back. The Dutch explorer Willem Janszoon landed on the western side of Cape York Peninsula and charted about 300 km of coastline. -

The White Man's Land
In an attempt to make Australia more "European". An act was signed in 1901 were restrictions were applied to anyone who wasn't European and wanted to emigrate. This act was dismantled after the WWII -
For the rights of aboriginals
First laws ensuring the rights of aboriginals wrre established after a Referendum held on 27 may 1967. They were granted certain rights like education. The changes to the Constitution included the repeal of Section 127 and the removal of discriminatory words from s51. -
Australia Act
All legal ties with the United Kingdom were retrieved. In 1999, after a Referendum, 55% of australian rejected the idea of becoming an independent nation.
