Cook to Australia
In 1769 cook left Australia to go to Tahiti to view the eclipse. Then he got a secret message and it was to find the Great South Land, but as well as finding it he was to make friends with the natives of the country to make possession of some parts of the land.
Before he could do any of that he had to find the land. Captain Cook set off straight away to find the land but on his way he saw the land discovered by Tasman, New Zealand, He saw the land of Australia but didn’t think it was it, because -

With the European settlers coming to Australia the all had different perspective of the aboriginals and this was captain cooks when they first met ‘all they seem to want is us to be gone’ but as they made peace cook thought the Aboriginals weren't that bad as William Dampier wrote. William Dampier's writing gave the english people a very distorted account of the Aboriginal people. -

In 1788 Britain decided to colonise Australia because America gained independence so they couldn’t send prisoners there because America was no longer under their power. Britain also grabbed the land at the time
because they didn’t want the dutch, spanish or anyone else at the time to grab it. Another reason they came to Australia was trade, the British wanted to establish a port near Asia to make it easier to trade with countries such as China and Japan. -

The Aboriginals were probably affected a lot because these random people they did not know just came and invaded their land took over and pushed them away so they had no rule and didn’t speak their language and would get shot if they did something wrong. -

Formation as a Federation
In 1901 Australia’s states where all different colonies so Australia sent 1 representative from each ‘colony’ to have a special meeting to discuss whether Australia would become a nation, The ‘meeting’ the one that some call the big boring meeting went on for a while, it happen later than it should have been because WA didn’t want to become one big nation. They wanted to be there own colony, but later on they agreed to become one big nation. -

Australia's invloment in WW1
In 1915 war occurred. Since Australia was under Britain's power Australia joined Sides with them. More than 416 000 men signed up to fight for the ‘mother Country’ which is what Britain was called at the time. Britain was considered to be home, and Australians believed that it was their duty to fight and help defend the British Empire.
