In 1988 Aung San Suu kyi returned to Burma after studying abroad. At the time Burma was in political chaos, an authoritarian ruler who didn’t allowed people to express their ideas ruled Burma. Aung San Su Kyi showed great courage returning to this country. Aung San Su kyi returned to Burma because she wanted to change the country, she wanted Burma to be a free country. Aung san didn’t mind risking her life. -

Risk taker-Aun San Suu Kyi speeches
1988 Aung San Suu Kyi performed numerous speeches in front of great multitudes calling for freedom. This was a huge risk because she could have been arrested or even killed because of this. Never the less Aung San didn’t mind she kept preforming speeches encouraging democracy until she was arrested. -
persistence-Aun San Suu Kyi is arrested
In 1989 the Burma police placed Aung San Su Kyi under house arrest. Aung san Su Kyi showed great persistence, she never gave up. While being in house arrest Aung San Su Kyi wrote letters to the local newspaper in order to continue fighting for freedom. Aung San Su Kyi never gave up on her fight for a democratic Burma, she showed amazing persistence. -
Change master -The NLD is formed
After years of fighting Aung San Suu Kyi was able to found the NLD (National League for Democracy). This was a big change in Burma since it was the first step towards democracy. The creation of the NLD meant that there would finally be elections. The creation of the NLD was the first step of many to turn Burma in the democratic country it is today. -
Positive and hope filled-Atack on Aun San Suu Kyi
In 1996, Aung san, while traveling , was attacked by 200 men who smashed the vehicle she was traveling with wielding metal. After this most people who had believed that it was time to give up. But instead of this Aung san kept believing that she could still create a better Burma. She was extremely positive even though she was almost killed. -
Accepts and uses power wisely-The NLD gains control
In 2012, Suu Kyi won a seat in the Parliament. Additionally, her party, National League for Democracy won 43 of the 45 contested seats. After gaining so much power Aung San stating planning how to improve the country. She wanted to create an even more democratic Burma even though it could mean she could loose powered. Aung san focused on improving the quality of life of the people. IT is because of this Burma is one of the fastest improving countries. -
Big thinker- Meading with heads of states
November 2013 Aung san Suu Kyi met with some of the most important head of states for the world. She met with them in order to discuss how they can help Burma and to talk to them about all the plans that she has for Burma. Aung San had very large plans for Burma, she believed that Burma can become one of the most important counties in the world.
