Birth
Isidore-Auguste-Marie-François-Xavier Comte was born on January 19, 1798, in Montpellier, France to Louis and Rosalie Boyer Comte. From a young age, Comte rejected his parents' beliefs. At the age of 16, he enrolled at the École Polytechnique, a school for advanced sciences in Paris, the city of love, where Auguste Comte would make his mark on the philosophy of science. -
Positive Philosophy
At the end of a 12 year period starting in 1830, Comte published all six volumes of his work, Course of Positive Philosophy. -
Death of Clotilde de Vaux
The death of his lover, Clotilde de Vaux, propelled Comte to complete his formulation of sociology, System of Positive Polity. -
