  • Democritus

    Democritus
Democritus was born in 460 b.c. He was Greek philosopher and a central figure in development of the Atomic Theory. He also introduced eidola which is kind of emanation of external objects.
Fun Fact: Democritus was considered a laughing scientist.

    Democritus Atomic Theory
During his idea of finding this Atomic Theory, he found a substance called eidola. This is a kind of fluency of external objects.
  • John Dalton

    John Dalton
John Dalton was born on September 6, 1766. Both of his parents were Quakers. He went to school until he was 11. He started helping his brother at a boarding school. He died on July 26, 1844.
Fun Fact: John Dalton was only 77 when he died.
  • Dalton's Atomic Theory

    Dalton's Atomic Theory
He had a finished model of atoms in lat 1803. He said atoms are indestructible and indivisible. Heres another one a chemical reaction is a rearrangement of atoms. Compounds are formed from two or more substances.
  • JJ Thomson

    JJ Thomson
JJ Thomson was born on December 18,1856. Thomson discovered the electron. Thomson also won the Nobel Prize in 1906. He died later at age 83 on August 30, 1940.
Fun Fact: JJ Thomson won the Nobel Prize in 1906.
  • Ernest Rutherford

    Ernest Rutherford
Ernest Rutherford was born August 30, 1871. When he was 10 he was given the book that inspired his very first scientific experiment. In 1903 Rutherford introduced his theory of radioactivity.
  • Niels Bohr

    Niels Bohr
Niels Bohr was born on October 7, 1885. Bohr and his younger brother Harald grew up in an atmosphere that developed his genius mind. Bohr’s studies became more and more involved in his character. He later introduced the concepts of the Quantum Theory and also improved it.
Fun Fact: In 1920, he founded the university’s Institute of Theoretical Physics, which he would rule for the rest of his life.
  • Erwin Schrodinger

    Erwin Schrodinger
Erwin Schrodinger was born in Vienna, Austria on August 12, 1887. He attended the University of Vienna and graduated with a Ph.D. in physics. On January 4, 1961 he died.
Fun Fact: He attended the University of Berlin, while he was there he met Albert Einstein.
  • JJ's Atomic Theory

    JJ's Atomic Theory
Thomson's atomic model was first introduced in 1904. There was not a specific day that he introduced it. He called it the Plum Pudding. Thomson said that no matter where the matter is it always has to have particles.
  • Rutherford's Atomic Model

    Rutherford's Atomic Model
Ernest did many things with the atomic theory. He started in 1911. He developed the nuclear theory which states that most of an atom’s mass and all of its positive charge is located in the nucleus. Most of an atom’s volume is empty space, where small, negatively charged electrons are going in different ways. Also, since an atom is electrically unsupportive, there are as many positively charged particles into the nucleus, and there are negatively charged electrons outside of the nucleus.
  • Bohr's Atomic Theory

    Bohr's Atomic Theory
Niels Bohr completed his model in 1913. His model made the electrons go in a circular orbit. His theory told us why the atoms caused light and changed wavelengths. There was not a specific date when he finished.
  • Schrodinger's Atomic Model

    Schrodinger's Atomic Model
In 1926 Erwin took Niel Bohrs model and changed it. He used many mathematical equations to find the position on an electron. The model he came up with was the quantum model.
