Dalton's Model
Dalton was an English chemist and a teacher who used experimental evidence to form the atomic theory of matter. He created his Experiment in 1803. All elements are composed of atoms. Atoms are solid spheres that are invisible and indestructible. He came up with the Atomic Theory based off of different atoms being combined to create different compounds. While the Dalton's Model was being made, Ohio became the 17th state to join The United States. -
J.J Thomson's Model
Thomson discovered the electron in 1897, proposed the plum pudding model in 1904. Before the Atomic Nucleus was produced so the electron can be included in the Atomic model. Atom is a sphere of positive electricity. Electrons have small mass and negative charge. Negative Electrons are embedded in the positive sphere. He improved Dalton's Model by using Cathode Ray Tubes to discover subatomic Particles. While J.J Thomson made the plum pudding model, the Ford B Car Model was produced. -
Rutherford's Model
The Rutherford model is a classic model of the atom, though it's not considered an accurate representation. His model was created in 1902. Rutherford's model shows that an atom is mostly empty space with electrons. The nucleus is small, dense and positively charged. Negative electrons are scattered outside the nucleus in an electron cloud. Rutherford tested Thomson's Model and improved it by using his Gold Foil Experiment. Albert Einstein's Daughter was born in the same year as this model. -
Bohr's Model
The Bohr Model shows the electrons in atoms are are in orbits of differing energy around the nucleus. He proposed his Model in the year 1913. Niels Bohr was a Danish Scientist and his atomic structure is still used today. Niels Bohr improved Rutherford's Model by using mathematical ideas to show that Electrons occupy shells or energy levels around the Nucleus. While Niels Bohr was creating his model, Albert Einstein worked on his new theory of Gravity. -
Quantum Model
The Quantum model of the atom uses complex shapes or orbits (called electron clouds), volumes of space and there is likely to be an electron. This model was created in the year 1926. It's impossible to determined the exact location of electrons. The quantum model improved the Bohr model because the electron is treated mathematically as a wave. There are areas of higher probability where electrons are called orbitals. While this Model was being established, a famous actor Marliyn Monroe was born.
