    We present a chronology of the contributions of the National Athletic Trainers' Association to the development of athletic training education in the United States.
  • Cramer chemical company

    In 1918, Chuck Cramer started the Cramer Chemical Company (now Cramer Products) that produced a line of products used by athletic trainers and began publishing a newsletter in 1932 entitled The First Aider.
  • NATA found

    An organization named the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) was founded in 1938 and folded in 1944.
  • Then

    The first athletic training curriculum approved by NATA was in 1959 and the amount of athletic training programs began to grow throughout colleges and universities in the United States.

    NATABOC in 1969 iN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT A CERTIFICATION process the profession had an entry level.

    Athletic trainers need at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Master's degree programs are also common, and may be preferred by some employers.

    By June 1982, there were nine NATA-approved graduate athletic training education programs.
