  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The first tax applied to the colonists by the British Parliament. The Act imposed tax on all printed documents. It was developed because the British were in debt from the Sevens' Year War. The Stamp Act is ASYMETRICAL because it was not two sides fighting in lines and shooting.

  • Boston Masacre

    Boston Masacre
    A group of American Colonists start to taunt British gurds at the British Custom House. British Captain Thomas Preston ordered his troops to fix their bayonets and help the guards at the House. The Colonists started to throw snowballs at the British troops. That lead to British killing 5 colonists. This would be asymmetrical because it is not two sides lined up and fighting.

  • Tea Tax

    Tea Tax
    Tea Tax was developed by the British government to try and help the East India Company from going bankrupt. The East India Company is a main factor to British economy. British put a tax on tea going to the colonies. This event is asymettrical because it is an act not a battle.

  • Lexington/Concord

    Lexington/Concord
    Battle between American Colonists and the British. British troops marched from Boston to Concord, Paul Revere saw them and told colonists "The British are coming." Colonist army hearing the news quickly got in position to fight. At Lexington the fighting began, soon after the British retreat after heavy fire from the Colonists. This event would be symmetrical because two sides get in postion and start to fight.

  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    Colonists set up their army on Breeds Hill. The British marched towards the colonists. The colonist were ordered not to shoot till they saw the whites of the British eyes due to low ammunition. British retreat after close encounters with the colonist. The British keep attacking, the 3rd time in hand to hand combat British out number colonists. The colonists retreat, and British win. This is symmetrical.

    Common Sense
    Thomas Paine publishes a pamphlet called Common Sense. Common Sense talks about his arguments for America's Independence from the British. This is asymmetrical because it is a pamphlet on independence, not two sides fighting.

    Declaration of Independence
    A document declaring Americas independence from Great Briton. The document was wrote by a five man committee. (Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, John Adams, Roger Sherman, and Robert Livingston). This is asymmetrical because its a document not a battle.

    Battle of Saratoga
    Battle between colonists and British. The colonists win making the French join their side. The battle is symmetrical because the two sides lined up had the battle.

  • Continental Army wintering at Valley Forge

    Continental Army wintering at Valley Forge
    General Washington stationed his men at Valley Forge for the winter of 1777-1778. It was rough living, many diseases killed the troops. Through out the winter they had drills and training. When they left Valley Forge, Washington's army was strong and disciplined. This event is asymmetrical because it is an army wintering/camping throughout the winter.

  • War in South/Charleston

    War in South/Charleston
    A major battle of the American Revolution, towards the end. The British won this battle, but with a loss of many troops. Their strategy was to aim towards the southern colonies. Americans had a defeat, loosing many troops and some becoming prisoners. This battle is symmetrical because the two sides lined up and fought.

  • Battle at Trenton/Princeton

    Battle at Trenton/Princeton
    Washington lead his army to defeat the British in the battle of Trenton. Then marched at night to capture Princeton. After winning these battles the Americans have gained control for much of New Jersey. This battle is symmetrical because the two sides lined up and fought.

    Battle of Yorktown
    Washington lead his army of 17,000 troops, American and French. After an American victory, peace negotiations begin. The United States is now a free nation after eight years of fighting with the British. This battle is symmetrical because both sides lined up nd fought.
