astronomers get new tools for detecting gravitational waves
an instrument aboard NASA's Fermi Gamma-Ray Space Telescope began surveying the sky in 2008. This instrument located hundreds of gamma-ray-emitting objects throughout our Galaxy, and astronomers suspected many of these could be millisecond pulsars. Paul Ray of the Naval Research Laboratory initiated an international collaboration to use radio telescopes to confirm the identity of these objects as millisecond pulsars.

    Mercury's Messanger
After six-and-a-half years of traveling in space, NASA's Messenger probe made history March 17 by becoming the first spacecraft to enter into orbit around Mercury. The probe was designed to capture Mercury's surface and make a map of the surface in detail. Messanger - Mercury Surface, Space Environment, Geochemistry and Ranging
