    Asking for Assistance

Most people don't want help. They won't ask for it. They might refuse the help if it is offered to them. "No thanks, I got it"(Asking For and Offering Assistance pg.13) is a phrase commonly used. "The Self-Sufficiency Syndrome, as Collins calls it, is char- acterized by an inability and unwillingness to ask for help or delegate because of the belief that no one can do it as well as you can"(Asking For and offering assistance pg.13). Most people were raised with this in there head.

    Help

I work with special needs kids at school. One day one of the kids in the class drop a cup of beans all over the floor. I helped him pick them up because he looked like he needed It. After he gave me a hug everyday for the rest of the year. Helping him made an impact on him and on me.

    Offering Assistance

It is seems difficult to offer assistance too. Other times you are just thinking about yourself. But we can easily change and make an impact if others. Offering to helps is "asking what you can do to help. Talk to a family member or friend and ask what they most need help with and offer your services"(Asking For and Offering Assistance pg.14). Make it a daily thing to ask around to see if anyone needs help. It will make them and you feel good. It is all good to "Practice active listening".
