A first for everything
They date and month wasnt mention but; Assata was arrested for the firs time in 1967 at BMCC college for trespassing. Assata was among 100 other student who took over one of the college building locking doors with chains demanding more black faculty members among others things. -
When it started
In 1970 her leadership skills got put to the test when she became the leader of the Black Panthers Harlem branch. -
I got shot
Assata Was shot in the stomach during an altercation with another guest at the Statler Hilton hotel in Manhattan NY. This was later ruled as an attempted robbery case. -
Turnpike shooting
Assata was the main suspect in a shootout on the New Jersey turnpike. She was accused of the death of Werner Foerster, and the assult of James Harper both New Jersey State troopers. -
The great escape
In 1979 Assata escaped from Clinton Correctional prison and stayed on the run for a few years. -
