Roosevelt declared war on Japan and her allies. This was a very important event since this was the main reason for US joining the war.     Guam anad Wake which were US territories had been taken over by Japan. Along with Guam and Wake. Japan had attacked Phillipines on December 8th, 1941 but they finally surrendered. Japan's territory was expanding as time went on. Because of Japan's expansion of territory it made the war bigger than it had to be in the pacific region.

    Japan started to attack islands, and when Japan tried to take over the island of Midway, US was aware about this fact due to the code break of Japan's plan. US was prepared to fight the Japanese.
