The model minority myth is the thinking that Asian Americans are suppose to be smarter and over achievers than other white citizens. The myth falls flat when examining different ethnic groups, showing that only a few groups actually fit the stereotype, and while the majority do not. This way of thinking can be emotionally damaging to asian americans who are expected to live up to their peers who do fit the stereotype. -
