Japanese direct attack on US meant that the US have to intervene into the war. The Battle of Midway
The Battle of Midway is considered a turning points of the World War II in the Pacific because it was the very first battle that gave US Naval victory. Since it is laid in the midway of pacific ocean, it allows the travel of force from an east which becomes very important component for securing the Hawaiian island. This gave the Americans morale boost. -
The Battle of Guadalcanal
After fighting more than six months on the sea and land, the result was not very pleasing. Finally the Americans drove the Japanese out of the island of Guadalcanal. It was a great victory for the Americans but great depression for the Japanese loosing almost half of their forces.
