The Start of the Movement
The Asian-American movement was a sociopolitical evolution in which the widespread of Asian Americans changed racial, social, and political change in the U.S. Asian Americans supported antiwar and anti-imperialist activism immediately opposing what was observed as an unjust Vietnam war. Philip Vera Cruz
A Filipino immigrant who worked in the midwest then traveled to California in 1943, becoming a farmworker.He joined the Agricultural Worker Organizing Committee, and soon became a leader in the rights of farmworkers. In 1965,he was an effective force determined to strike against grape growers in Delano.The strike and boycott soon won the aid of Cesar Chavez and the National Farm Workers of America and began to the eventual merging of the two groups to create the United Farm Workers. -
Ronald Takaki
After earning his degree he began writing books in 1967. Ronald Takaki was a huge influencer and author. writing over 20 books such as; From a Different Shore, a history of asian americans.By doing so he elevated and popularized asian cultures and history. -
Refugees Arriving on the Shores
1975 more than 130,00 refugees enter the country at the indochina war. The united states built refugee camps for the immigrants seeking shelter, and aided them in rebuilding their lives. However this event lasted for 15 years, as nearly 800,000 refugees seeked shelter till the early 1990s. -

Dr. Noa Emmett Aluli appointed to Kaho‘olawe
The battle of bomb testing and health care is resolved in Hawaii. The commission established to manage Kaho‘olawe Island after a lawsuit. U.S. Navy bombardment tests that had begun in World War II.Dr. Aluli, a Native Hawaiian, established Protect Kaho‘olaw, remained an advocate for Native Hawaiian health care needs. He views his environmental activism to closely linked to the recovery of Native Hawaiian culture and health. -

Margret Chin's Election
Margret Chin was one of the first Asian American women to enter into the democratic political party in a newly found district built for Asian Americans in 2012. She entered the Democratic primary in the newly formed Council District 1. With the complications, Chin still persevered through the years and was finally victorious in 2010. She was becoming the first Chinese American to represent Manhattan’s Chinatown and the first Asian woman to serve on the City Council.
