    Hindu Dharma

    It is estimated that 1 billion people around the world follow Hindu Dharma which makes it the third most popular religion on our timeline of world religions. Hindus believe in one God (Brahman) who takes many forms. Hindus believe that Brahman, also known as the Ultimate Reality, is eternal and everywhere at once.

    Judaism

    It is estimated that there are around 15 million Jewish people living by their faith and values today. Their religion is not just a belief system but a way of life, law, culture and tradition. Jewish communities come together in local synagogues to worship G-d and take part in events and celebrations. There are around 454 synagogues in the UK today, and many more around the world.

    Buddhism

    Buddhism was founded in India by a spiritual teacher known as “the Buddha” His teachings formed the basis of the philosophies, practices and traditions of the Buddhist faith. Around the world, there are an estimated 470 million followers of Buddhism, and it is becoming increasingly popular in Western society by the day. Buddhism’s purpose is to overcome suffering caused by desire/greed and materialism, ego, and ignorance of the true nature of reality.

    Christianity

    Christianity developed from Judaism, and its founding marks the 1st Century of the Common Era. Christianity is formed around the life, death and teachings of a man named Jesus Christ and his 12 disciples. There are approximately 2 billion followers of Christianity, and it is the most widely practised organised religion in the world. In terms of popularism, the spread of Christianity from its origins to the rest of the planet is considered the most successful religious movement in history.

    Islam

    Islam is the second largest religion in the world. Followers of Islam are called Muslims, and there are approximately 1.9 billion practising Muslims worldwide. built on the revelations and messages of a prophet named Muhammad. Muslims are also monotheistic and believe that Prophet Muhammad was sent by God to spread the teachings of their faith to mankind. He was visited by an angel called Jibri, whilst meditating in a cave, and was chosen to spread the sacred word of Allah (God).

    Sikhi

    Around 500 years ago the Sikh faith was founded in Punjab, South Asia, by a man called Guru Nanak Dev Ji. At the time, Hindu Dharma and Islam were the predominant faiths in Asia. Guru (meaning teacher) Nanak began preaching something completely new. There are 25 million Sikhs in the world today, and they believe in one God under whom everyone is equal.
