Byzantine Art

Traditions include: reflecting classical past with heretic style and representing medieval framework. Painting specialised in mosaics, icons, and illuminated manuscripts. Architects invent pendentive and squench for buildings which produce mysterious and shadowy interiors. -

For periods: Hiberno Saxon-6th-8th century, Vikings Scandinavia-8th-11th century, Carolingians-Germany-8th-9th, and Antonians-Germany-10th-11th. All art was portable due to nomadic nature of the people. -
