Campin, Robert: Merode Altarpiece: The Annunciation with Donors and St. Joseph
By Robert Campin.This is three panel, hinged painting done in oil on wood. The first panel is of the donors . The middle panel shows what took place just before the Annunciation to Mary. Mary seems not to notice the angel coming to her. In the background there is a small child holding a cross. In the third right panel Saint Joseph is working as a carpenter in his shop. This painting was done in the Renaissance period. -
