Lincon Announces Ten Percent Plan
The Ten Percent Plan was part of his plan for the reconstruction of America. It's purpose was to weaken the Confederacy by saying that z state could be readmitted if 10 percent of voters swore a oath and agreed that slavery should be illegal. -

Lincon vetos Wade-Davis Bill
The Wade-Davis Bill required that all states should accept the end of slavery, and that all African American men can vote. -
13th Amendment approved and ratified by Congress
The 13th Amendment freed African Americans from slavery and stated that they could no longer be viewed as property or owned. -
Congress Created Freedman's Bureau
Established as a welfare agency in order to aid formerly enslaved people in becoming full citizens. -

Black Codes, enacted by Mississippi, qualified African Americans as second-class citizens. -
Johnson declares reconstruction complete

Radical Republicans
They were strongly against slavery and demanded harsh regulations for punishing the former rebels, and emphasizing equality, civil rights, and voting rights for the "freedmen". -
1st, 2nd, and 3rd Reconstruction Acts
This act split the ex-confederate states into 5 military districts under the rule of a general who was meant to protect property and life. It also specified the need for new state delegates and constitutions. -
Johnson impeached
Johnson had enough of Stanton and appointed General Lorenzo Thomas to his place. -
Sharecropping
Sharecropping is where the owner of the land lets someone use and farm on the land as long as the shareowner gets a share of the crops. -
Uylsses S. Grant elected
Grant wasy young, politically inexperienced, and honest. He was known to appoint people who didn't have good character, but, he also had a few victiories in his term. -
14th Amendment Ratified
This amendment gave citizenship to freedmen and american born people. -
15th Amendment ratified
The 15th amendment was created to protect the voting rights no mattter the person's race. This caused many systems to keep African-Americans from voting. -
Enforcment Acts
These were 3 bills passed to enforce and protect the rights of African-Americans to vote, serve on juries, work in office, and recieve equal protection of laws. -
Amnesty Act of 1872
This act forgave the confederates and allowed them to be able to vote again. -
Freedmen's Bureau terminated
