Description: Arabs were angered by the Jewish skew in the resolution, which helped lead into war. Israeli Cause: Jews wanted a home in Palestine for various reasons (Zionism, Holocaust, general bullying of Jews throughout history) and achieved their goal with International support through the British Mandate/Resolution 181. Arab Cause: Arabs refused to actively participate in UN activities, which led to the bias in the resolution. -
Palestinian Civil War Begins
Description: This is the Arab-Israeli war before Israel existed. Since both the Zionists and Palestinian Arabs were residing in Palestine, it was considered a civil war. Israeli Cause: The Jews responded to an Arab attack, but this is not to say that they were not already heading to war. Arab Cause: UN Resolution 181 pushed the Arabs over the edge and caused them to attack. -
