The Zimmerman Telegram
The British intercepted and decoded a German telegram to Mexico asking for aid against the US. The British held off telling the US for secrecy against the Germans, but eventually told them to ask for help. This led to the US entering WWI and inspired popular interest/support in the war. -
The US enters WWI
After German U-boat attacks, the Zimmerman Telegram, and US popular belief agreed, Wilson formally declared war on Germany and entered WWI. This aid greatly helped the Allies. -
