    Albany Plan of UnionThe Albany Plan of Union was a plan to unify the thirteen colonies under a more centralized government. It was suggested by Benjamin Franklin and a delegate from Pennsylvania in Albany, New York. Although it was never carried out the significance of the Albany Plan was that it was the FIRST important proposal to suggest a central government of the thirteen colonies.
  • The End of the French & Indian War

    The End of the French & Indian War
    Primary Source Document The French & Indian war ended with the loss of the French and the signing of the Treaty of Paris in February 1763. In the Treaty of Paris, France lost all posession to Canada and gave Louisiana to Spain, while the British received Spanish Florida, Upper Canada, and various French holdings overseas. Also, the significance of this event is that, as the British gained more control and supremacy of the thirteen colonies due to the Treaty of Paris, the colonies were headed to a road of revolution.
  • Pontiac's Rebellion

    Pontiac's Rebellion
    Pontiac's Rebellion (a.k.a. Pontiac's War) was a war that was initiated by an attack against the British forces in Detroit by Native American warriors under the command of Ottawa Chief, Pontiac. This war is a significant event beceause after the loss of the French & Indian War, unsatisfied by the British post-war policies, the Native American tribes joined forces to cause an uprising and to drive away the British from their territory.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act Primary Source The Stamp Act is an act passed by the British Parliament on March 22, 1765 that taxed all American colonists and required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. Some examples include the following: ship's papers, legal documents, licenses, & newspapers. Although the Stamp Act was passed in order to pay for the war(s) Great Britain engaged in, this became a significant even in American history becaeuse it initatiated a start of protests against the British Empire.

    The Boston Tea Party was a political protest against taxes by the Sons of Liberty and Samuel Adams in Boston, on December 16, 1773. This is a significant event because it caused more tension between the British Empire and the American colonists as this event was taken place to protest against King George.
  • American Revolution

    The American Revolution was a war between the British Empire and the thirteen colonies of America who had claimed independence from Great Britain and opposed all policies of the British Empire. Throughout the war, the French allied with the colonists hoping to seek revenge against the British Empire after their loss in the French & Indian war. This is a significant event because it united the colonies and positively helped with foreign relations between the colonies and the French.

The significance of this event is that the document establish strong ideals of an equal government.

This is a significant event because it is the official date that represents the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States of America as an independent nation.

    Between 1780 and 1790, Federalists and Anti-Federalists fought over the role of the government. This is a significant event because it led to the establishment of the US Consitution in September 17, 1787 in order to protect individual rights and freedom.

    The Siege of Yorktown/ The Battle of Yorktown
    The Siege of Yorktown was a battle that went from September 28, 1781 to October 19, 1781. This is a battle where the French and the Americans defeated Lieutenant General Charles Cornwallis of Great Britain. This is a significant event because it was the last major battle of the American Revolution and developed negotiations to end the conflict.

    Treaty oF Paris Primary SourceThe Treaty of Paris was signed in Paris, France by representatives of King George III of Great Britain and representatives of the United States of America to end the American Revolutionary War.This is a significant event because it provided negotiations between American and Great Britain and emphasized America's independence.

    The Land Ordinance of 1785 was adopted by the United States Congress on May 20, 1785. Under the Articles of Confederation, Congress did not have the power to raise revenue by direct taxation of the inhabitants of the United States. This is a significant event because it helped raise money for expeditions to the west of the US in order to survery the lands and also provide support for public education.

    The Judiciary Act of 1789 was a United States federal statute (a written law passed by the legislative body) adopted on September 24, 1789, in the first organized meeting of the First United States Congress. This is a significant event because It established the federal judiciary of the US .

    Bill Of Rights Primary SourceThe Bill of Rights is a name for the first ten admendments of the Consitution written by James Madison and was adopted on December 15, 1791. The Bill of Rights lists specific prohibitions on governmental power. This is a significant event because it prohibited goverment power from being too overpowered.

    George Washington Farewell AddressGeorge Washington's Farewell Address was a document to adress domestic affairs when he retired from office. He insisted on making temporary alliances with countries instead of permanent ones and stressesd about political issues with other nations. This is a significant event because it gave advice and reminded the importance of a unified nation.
  • John Adams Presidency

    John Adams Presidency
    During John Adam's presidency (March 4, 1797 – March 4, 1801), the British & French were at war therefore he sent a delegation to France to negotiate a treaty but the French refused to meet with the delegates. However, John Adams refused to deal with them futher on after a large bribery was proposed by the French. This became known as the XYZ Affair.

    The Alien and Sedition Acts were four bills that were passed by the Federalists and signed into law by John Adams in 1798. This is a significant event because the law was supposedly passed to protect the US from "aliens" but was actually passed to cease the spread of Democratic-Republican Party.

    Thomas Jefferson Presidency
    During Thomas Jefferson's presidency (March 4, 1801 – March 4, 1809) he helped purchased the Louisiana Territory and Lewis and Clark's expedition to survey lands. He also promoted individual libery and believed the national government should be limited. Thomas Jefferson's presidency was signficant because he was the role model to help support America's development.

    Marbury v.s. Madison was a United States Supreme Court case where the Court founded the basisto apply judicial review in the United States. This is a significant event because it helped developed the judiciary branch of America and granted the power to declare a law unconstitutional (Judicial Review).

    he Louisiana Purchase was a land bragain between the United States and France during Thomas Jefferson's presidency. This is a significant event because Thomas Jefferson had helped the US gain approximately 827,000 square miles of land west of the Mississippi River which provided further expansion of US people.

  • Missouri Compromise

    The Missouri Compromise is when Missouri requested for admission to the Union as a slave state. This is a significant event because this request threatened the fragile balance between slave states and non-slave states. In order to resolve or balance out the request, Congress accepted it and made Maine a free state.
