  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp act was a tax put directly on colonists by the British government. It taxed all paper products: legal documents, newspapers, playing cards, ect. This tax was put in place to help pay for Britans war debt from the seven years war.

  • Boston massacre

    British soldiers stationed in Boston open fired into a croup of colonists killing five men. Tensions were high between the two and on this day a crowd had gathered in the commons, throwing snowballs at the British. The British fired.

  • Boston tea party

    Sam Adams and The Sons of Liberty boarded three English vessels and threw 342 chests of tea into Boston Harbor. This event was a revolt on the taxation of British tea in the Americas. This resulted in the implantation of the intolerable acts in 1774

  • Passage of Intolerable acts

    The intolerable acts were law places by British parliament in response to the Boston tea. The five acts places onto the Americas were: The Boston Port Act, Massachusetts Government Act, Administration Justice Act, Quartering Act, and Quebec Act.

  • First Continental congress

    The continental congress was a meeting of delegates of the thirteen colonies. They met to talk about resistance of the intolerable acts. They had two questions: What are our rights, and How should we defend them?

  • Lexington and Concord

    This was the first battle of the Revolutionary war. British troops were sent to take back colonial weapons when they ran into a militia. The militia wins this battle.

  • Declaration of Independence

    The declaration was a statement created by the second continental congress that declares independence from Britain. This stated that America was its own country.

  • 1st Battle of Saratoga

    This battle was a tuning point in the war. It as a crucial victory for the patriots. We had French, Spanish, and Dutch allis that helpped us win this was.

  • Surrender at Yorktown

    The British General surrendered is troops in Yorktown, Virginia. The British were awaiting the arrival of ships but they never came. This was the last battle of the war. This surrender led to American independence.

  • Treaty of Paris

    this treaty was negotiated by Great Britain and the United States. It ended the French and Indian war. French gave up all land to North America. This treaty ended boundaries in america and allowed westward expansion.
