    In terms of speed the PowerBook 100 matched the Portable, but cost around a third of the price and weighed just a fraction of it. It launched the PowerBook name that would last several years, and featured an innovative trackball pointer.

    The Duo line was launched as smaller and more portable versions of the main PowerBook range and were sold for around five years. Only the MacBook Air has ever surpassed its lightest model, weighing in at only 4.1 lbs.

    The Powerbook G3 series were the first laptops to use PowerPC G3 chips and saw solid sales for several years, including to business users. The 'Kanga' model made a cameo appearance in the film You've Got Mail, and also appeared in Sex and the City.

    The "Clamshell" iBook was the result of Apple ditching its confusing array of computer models for a low-end and high-end laptop and computer. The iBook was the more affordable laptop and unique on the market when it launched in several bright colours.
