  • Apollo 1

    Apollo 1
    On January 27th 1967, Apollo 1 (Also known as Apollo 8) was being tested for flight, with crew members Virgil Grissom, Edward White and Roger Chaffee, the rocket suffered many casualties resulting in a fire which swept through the rocket causing all three crew members to loose their lives.

  • Apollo 4

    Apollo 4
    Apollo 4 was a success, unlike Apollo 1, Apollo 4 was meant to lift off in late 1966 but was delayed until November 9th 1967 due to complications with wiring in the rocket, Because of Apollo 1 the people in N.A.S.A knew what they needed to improve, for example making sure that the hatch was not so hard to open, they would have taken at least a good 100 seconds to open up.   • Apollo 5

    Apollo 5
    Apollo 5 was a success, just like Apollo 4, Apollo 5 also experienced long delays however it was the first unmanned flight of the Apollo Lunar Module which could then carry astronauts to the Lunar surface, it took off on January 22nd 1968 on an Earth-orbital flight. It took 11 hours and 30 minuets approximately to test.

  • Apollo 6

    Apollo 6
    Apollo 6 was a success, It was also the final unmanned Apollo test mission, it lasted 6 hours in the air, engines in the second and third stages by rupturing internal fuel lines, causing two second-stage engines to shut down early. How ever this error was was quickly made up for by ;later stages in the rocket.

  • Apollo 8

    Apollo 8
    Apollo 8 was successful, being N.A.S.A's 2nd manned rocket, this was the first time humans had orbited the moon in a rocket, Jim Lovell,William Anders and Frank Borman were the crew that boarded some improvements they made were checking safety measures and fixng wires, making them more durable,

  • Apollo 9

    Apollo 9
    Apollo 9 was also a successful mission however it stayed in orbit around earth. It was launched on 3rd March 1969 and was crewed by James McDivitt, David Scott and Russell Schweickart. The mission was used to test the Lunar Module.The 10-day mission ended on 13th March 1969 when the craft re-entered Earth's atmosphere.

  • Apollo 10

    Apollo 10
    Apollo 10 was the final "test" mission. It was a dress rehearsal for the real Moon landing. Apollo 10 was crewed by Thomas Stafford, John W Young and Eugene Cernan. Apollo 10 launched on 18th May 1969. While in orbit around the Moon, the Lunar Module, containing Stafford and Cernan, separated from the Command Module.

  • Apollo 11

    Apollo 11
    Apollo 11 was successful. Apollo 11 was launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on 16th July 1969 using a Saturn V rocket. Inside the Command Module of the spacecraft were three astronauts: Neil Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin and Michael Collins. Apollo 11 took three days to reach the Moon.

  • Apollo 12

    Apollo 12
    Apollo 12 launched from the Kennedy Space Center less than four months after Apollo 11 on 14th November 1969. Pete Conrad, Richard Gordon and Alan Bean were the astronauts on board. The mission came close to being aborted shortly after launching after the Saturn V rocket was struck by lightening, their mission was to back to the moon.

  • Apollo 13

    Apollo 13
    Apollo 13 was deemed a "Successful Failure". Apollo 13 was planned to be the third Moon landing, but interest in the mission was so low that a television broadcast made from the Command Module while on its way to the Moon failed to get shown by any of the American television networks. Jim Lovell, John Swigert and Fred Haise were the astronauts on board Apollo 13.

  • Apollo 14

    Apollo 14
    Apollo 14 successfully landed and Apollo 14 was launched on 31st January 1971. Alan Shepard and Edgar Mitchell became the fifth and sixth people to walk on the Moon. Shepard smuggled a golf club and two golf balls into the space craft and became the first person to play golf on the Moon!

  • Apollo 15

    Apollo 15
    Apollo 15 was the fourth mission to land humans on the moon.
    Astronauts David Scott, James Irwin and Alfred Worden flew on the mission. Scott and Irwin walked on the surface, conducted experiments, tested equipment while Worden orbited in the command module. Around 76 kg of lunar material including soil, rock, core-tube, and deep-core samples were returned to Earth.

  • Apollo 16

    Apollo 16
    Apollo 16 was the fifth mission to land men on the moon and return them to Earth and as you may have guessed it was successful. The crew members for this mission were John W. Young, Commander, Thomas K. Mattingly II, Command Module Pilot, and Charles M. Duke, Jr., Lunar Module Pilot. The mission was to explore a highlands area which had not been explored by humans yet.
