The three part Apollo spacecraft was designed and selected for use for all the Apoll.o missions, including Apollo 13 -
Apollo completed
Apollo 13 is completed and ready to be tested. -
Testing
Flight readyness test was conducted and completed without any faults. -

Apollo 18 was tested at the Kennedy Space Center. tank No. 2 was not performing correctly and the engineers fixed it but in the process they accidently stripped some wires. -
Loading
the long loading process starts. -
A new crew is selected
original apollo 13 crew comes down with the measles two days before the launch. the backup crew was then assigned to the mission. the crew members where :
John W. Young (Backup Commander)
John L. Swigert (Backup Command Module Pilot)
Charles M. Duke, Jr (Backup Lunar Module Pilot) -
Coundown start
Terminal cuntdown started. -
Apollo 13 launch
the apollo 13 spacecraft was launched at 13:13 CST -
Engine problems
the center engine of the rocket cut off two minutes before it was supposed too. this did not cause any problems however and the trajectory stayed the same. -
oxogen explosion
oxogen tank No. 2 exploded thus causing oxogen tank No.1 to fail. the command moduals normal supply of electricity, light, and water were lost. -
Mission Abort
at 10:08 mission control decided to abort the mission in light of the events that had taken place. the team was to make a free return trajectory around the moon and back to earth. -
The burn
the crew calculated an essential five minute burn to put the ship back on a free to return course -
Conservation
The crew had to conserve water, food, and electricity to survive until re-entry. -
Landing
at 1:07 PM EST the odyssey landed in the mi pacific and the crew was picked up by a helicopter and brought to shore. -
fuel tanks
the explosion from oxogen tank No. 2 caused two fuel tanks were leaking. This caused the crew to have to conserve electicity. this also caused the interior of the ship to drop almost below freezing temperatures.
