This act arrose from the rise in air pollution. The EPA regulates and sets gudelines for emmissions. -

Because ozone depletoin, regulations and reduction on emmissions were needed to save the ozone. -

This act was designed to protect employees from their own work place and save lives in the work areas. -

Because of rapid industialization, this act defined how nature and man coexist. This completely disclosed all environmental consequences to the public. -
Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Roadenticide
This act protects the environment from chemicals made to kill insects, fungus and or roadents. It is regualted by the EPA -
Declaration of Conference on the Human Environment
With human growth on the rise the Earth must be protected. This act protects resources and trys to get the Earth to a state of sustainability. -
Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species
Many endangered species were being captured and sold so this act made it illegal to capture and sell any species on the endangered species list. -
Endangered Species Act
This act protected any endangered species and gave the government power to protect the land that they live on. -
The Safe Drinking Act
Because drinking water was more polluted, the safe drinking water act was made. It ensures safe drinking water and is enforced by the EPA (EPA sets water standards). -
The Toxic Substances Control Act
To ensure the saftey of the public and the efficency of emergency and medical responses, the toxic substances control act was made. It gives the EPA the power to test any unknown chemical or substance for potentially dangerous qualities. The tests give the EPA knowledge on how to treat humans or areas that might be affected by the specific chemical. -
The Clean Water Act
With water pollution becoming a problem, the clean water act was put in place. The EPA regulates the pollutants that enter the water systems and works to keep the water clean. -
Comprehensive Environmental Response and Compensatoin and Liability Act
Shockingly, a river in Ohio caught fire due to spills of chemicals. This started the movement to make the comprehensive environmental response and compensation and liability act. The act limmts and prevents the leaking of toxic waste. -
Convention on the Law of the Sea
This act puts restictions on waterways that countries claim. -
The Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act
Due to substance spills and storms the government decided that this act would ensure that the communities know emergency procedures and are notified if a substance spill occurs. -
The Oil Pollution Act
After the oil spill in the Alaskan Prince William Sound, companies were forced to have a plan to clean up any oil spills and have safer ships for transport. -
Food Quality Protection Act
Required labling to prevent advert effects on people and enviornment. This act also set pesticide standards and requirements on pesticides used on food. -
Convention of Climate Change and Kyoto Protocal
Government noticed that too many emmisons and green house gasses were being given off. Restrictions were put in place to reduce the emissions and green house gasses.
