    Black Land Act No.27
    Banned blacks from owning land outside of black reserves, which took up only 7% of the country's area. This law marked a significant increase in the control of the affairs of black individuals and prevented them from growing economically.

    -Required Indians to have permission to travel between provinces.
  • Native Urban Areas Act No.21

    Native Urban Areas Act No.21
    Gave local authorities jurisdiction over the blacks living in its area. Local boards controlled the movement of unemployed "surplus" people. This law marks another significant step towards complete control over the black population in South Africa.
  • Native Administration Act No. 38

    Native Administration Act No. 38
    This law allowed local government to evict and move blacks without notice and essentially stated that black aren't allowed to show aggression to whites. This law marks the complete dominance of white governmental power over black in South Africa.
  • Representation of Blacks Act No. 12

    Representation of Blacks Act No. 12
    Removed black voters from the common voting roll and placed them on a separate one to be represented by four white senators. This law removed all black representation from government in South Africa.
  • Urban Areas Consolidation Act No.25

    • Allowed black males who were considered to be idle to be removed from the urban area.
    This law was essential to the repressive authority of the Peri Urban
  • Population Registration Act No.30

    Population Registration Act No.30
    Required each person from birth to be placed into an ethnic category. This law clearly organized each ethnicity in a caste system.
  • Group Areas Act No.41

    Group Areas Act No.41
    • Forced people to live in their ethnically designated zones.
    Bound the ethnic groups of South Africa, making targeted police enforcement much easier.
  • Native Laws Amendment Act No. 54

    Native Laws Amendment Act No. 54
    This law amended the 1945 Urban Areas Consolidation Act, making it so that all blacks over the age of 16 were required to carry passes, and gave a curfew. This law gave the police an easy reason to arrest blacks and further oppressed them under existing apartheid laws.
  • Sabotage Act

    Sabotage Act
    This law essentially stated that the government could ban individual organizations or people from taking part in certain activities. As a result of this, the government gained almost dictatorial powers against the minorities.
