  • Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand

    The assassination of Franz Ferdinand was the "Breaking Point" for WWI. This was due to the multiple secret alliances across the globe. When one country declared war for the assassination another came in to protect the former. This continued until most of the world was at each others throats.
  • Gallipoli Campaign Begins

    The Gallipoli Campaign was an attacking force made to spread the German army even thinner by creating a new front. This idea was thought up by Winston Churchill; he planed to attack the Dardanelles Straits by se and the Gallipoli Peninsula by land.
  • Japan Makes 21 Demands on China

    During WWI Japan saw an opportunity to seize land from China. Japan then made many demands that detailed the land they where to be given. China at the time knew it wasn't able to successfully win a war against Japan, so they begrudgingly surrendered the requested land.
  • Gallipoli Campaign Ends

    The Gallipoli Campaign ended due to the lack of success from any of there invasion spots. There where too many casualties on the British/French troops to the small amount of Turkish casualties. Evacuation started on December of 1915 but completely ended on January 9th the next year.
  • The Bolshevik Revolution Begins

    The Bolshevik Revolution started due to the (at the time) current provisional government not being at all effective. The Bolshevik party leader Vladimir Lenin launched a coup against the government.
  • The Russian Revolution Begins

    The revolution began as a result of the Bolshevik revolt. It Continued for 3 years until the Bolshevik party ultimately won.
  • Bolshevik Revolution Ends

    The Bolshevik Revolution ended by the aforementioned party succeeding in taking out the current government. With this the first Marxist state was formed.
  • Treaty of Brest-Litovsk

    The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was a Russian agreement with the central European powers to let Russia drop out of WWI. This treaty was later annulled in the Treaty of Versailles.
  • Paris Peace Conference

    The Paris Peace conference was a meeting to discuss and determine the terms of defeat for the Central Powers. These where harsh punishments to mainly Germany. The contents of the treaty is one of the leading factors of World War Two's conception as it caused Germany wanting change and revolution.
  • First Meeting of the League of Nations

    The first meeting of The League of Nations was a short while after the Paris Peace Conference as it was proposed in the final treaty. The League of Nations was meant to prevent disputes that would end in war, unfortunately it was not taken seriously by any major power.
  • Lenin's Economic Policy Begins

    Lenin's New Economic Policy allowed small business/industry be privately owned while big industry, trade, and banking. This was beneficial to the states economy but harmful to the populous as almost nothing was in their control and they where basically made slaves to big industry.
  • Mussolini Launches Fascists Movement

    Mussolini published many news articles about fascism which helped it gain traction. Later on he was a more prominent political figure and formed an organization known as the Fascist Party.
  • Ataturk Proclaims the Republic of Turkey

    Mustafa Kemal Atatürk founded the Republic of Turkey after the Ottoman Empire was in ruins. From that he was the president from 1923-1938. While he was he ran less democratically and more like an authoritarian.
  • Begining of the First Five Year Plan

    (Discount the day and Month for this event as could not find an exact date)The 5 year plan was an economic " to-do-list" for the next five years in the soviet union.This list set deadlines for industrial growth and products. Although it did boost the economy the people suffered for it.
  • The U.S. Stock Market Crash

    In 1929 the U.S. Stock Market shares dropped by almost half everywhere on the board. This almost instantly effected every other country that was linked with the USA.
  • India's Civil Disobedience Movements

    In the 1930's Mohandas Gandhi started a peaceful march to the sea. He(and many others) did this to protest the British monopoly on salt. He was trying to show that India could be self sufficient.

  • Japanese Invasion of Manchuria

    Japans population was growing at a rapid pace and did not have the room to fit it's up and coming population. With this they wanted control of Manchuria which offered all the land that japan could want for its population growth.The League of Nations was called in by China but they did absolutely nothing to help.
  • Japanese Invasion of Manchuria Ends

    in 1931 Japan held Manchuria and invested a lot of money into the country. After this the League of Nations stepped in and discussion occurred about what to do about Manchuria. The final result was Manchuria being ran as a semi-independent state.
  • Hitler Gains Power

    In the early 30's Germany was still in a bad way from one the loss of the First World War and two from the great depression. Both of these left the German people wanting change in a massive way and to return back to the old Germany. With this over the next four years Adolf Hitler will make a political debut and gained power when being placed in the government. After this he quickly ruled all of Germany with his brilliant mind for propaganda.
  • Stalin's Great Purges

    In the mid-1930s Stalin thought that the Bolshevik party was against him. With this he some how aided in the assassination of Sergei Kirov the Leningrad party leader. With this he orderd a purging of the entire party.
  • German Auchluss with Austria

    Adolf Hitler announced an Anschluss between Austria and Germany. This basically made Austria a part of the German rule as many of Hitler's political ideas came to Austria
  • Cárdenas Hold on oil Industry in Mexico

    The president of Mexico Lázaro Cárdenas made an order to use all the assets of the Mexican oil industry. This later resulted in a firm that held a complete monopoly on oil industry in mexico.
  • The Germanic Invasion of Poland

    Hitler ordered an attack on Poland to regain lost land from the Peace conference of Paris. This was the attack that tipped the scale for the rest of the world. After this invasion the allied powers cracked down on Hitler and World War Two Began.
  • The Germanic Invasion of the USSR

    The invasion of the USSR is viewed as one of the gravest mistakes Hitler ever made. First he broke a non aggression pact and attacked the USSR. This resulted by first Germany failing the invasion and two the German army must now fight a two front war. The invasion ended the same year as a failed mission.
  • Soviet Victory at Stalingrad

    The Battle of Stalingrad was considered the turning point of the war for the allies. This Soviet defense kept Germany from taking key points in Russia making it harder for the Germans to launch attacks. Without this defense being successful the second world war may have lasted longer than it did.
  • D-Day

    The invasion of Normandy is a famous invasion from WWII. The entire mission was made to liberate France from German rule. There where many mind games played and a lot of planning for the actual invasion. in the end the invasion was successful and France was liberated.
  • Hitlers Rule Ends

    In the middle of 1945 Germany was fighting to its last gun. The defeat was no doubt on is way. On April 30th 1945 Hitler committed suicide thus ending his rule.
  • Soviet Forces Capture Berlin

    The Soviet army launched a massive attack on Berlin where Hitler was hiding underneath in a bunker. This attack destroyed the city and all its resistors until the Third Reich Was exterminated.
  • The Division of Berlin and Germany

    After Germany's unconditional surrender following the Potsdam Conference the area that was Germany was split into four pieces to be split among the US, the USSR, Britain, and France. The same was done in the city of Berlin. This was done to keep control over Germany by all the major Allied Powers.
  • The US Bombs Hiroshima and Nagasaki

    The Japanese where still trying to fight the war on America, so America saw one way to end the was ASAP. The US then dropped two bombs on to mass Japanese cities. After both of these the Japanese came to an unconditional surrender.

    After WWII a new League of Nations was founded called the United Nations. It was made to replace the League of Nations which was ineffective.
  • The Partition of India

    The country of India was split into Pakistani and The Union of India to settle tensions from opposing religions(Hindus and Muslims). It also showed that India was independent from British rule .
  • Apartheid in South Africa

    The white minority in South Africa made segregation laws against non-whites. This started a political and economic imbalance between the races.
  • The creation of Israeli

    At the time both Arabs and Jews lived in the same area. This caused obvious tensions and ended in the creation of a Jewish state and an Arab State from Great Britain's Mandate of Palestine.
  • The Arab-Israeli War

    This war was right after the British Mandate was Split in two. It occurred due to Arab Nations invading Israeli territory. The US held an embargo on both.
  • Establishment of NATO

    The whole world was scared of a Soviet Union take over. With this NATO was formed which basically said they would protect each other if the Soviet Union tried to take over their country.
  • Establishment of peoples Republic of China

    After the Chinese revolution ended Mao Zedong overhauled all of china fixing the economy and destroying many feudal artifacts. He also introduced socialism as the new political ideology in China
  • The Korean War

    The Korean war was the first materialistic thing to happen in the cold war.It started by North Korea trying to force Communism as the political ideology in south Korea. The US quickly joined to try to stop the spread of Communism to South Korea.
  • French defeat at Dien Bien Phu

    A French stronghold in Vietnam was attacked by Vietnamese communists and were finally taken over and pushed out,

    Algerians start to wage war on France and demand that Algeria become a sovereign state in the UN.
  • Establishment of Warsaw Pact

    The Warsaw Pact was meant to be a counter threat to the NATO agreement. It promised protection to the other central powers in Europe. This greatly threatened the USA and Britain.
  • The Uprising in Hungary

    The Uprising in Hungary was a peoples revolt against the Hungarian Government for its Soviet-Imposed Polocies.
  • The Suez Crisis

    The Crisis was a joint attack of the Israeli, French, and British armies on Egypt . It was initiated by Egypt's Nationalization of the Suez Canal. It was no new rivalry as the Egyptians where already pushing to stop a permitted British military presence for two years.
  • The Chinese Great Leap Forward

    The Chinese Great Leap Forward was a 5 year plan to boost industry and agriculture. It was created by Mao after touring China and concluding that the Chinese where up to any task.
  • Castro Comes to Power

    Fidel Castro came to rule Cuba in 1959 making it become the first communist state in the western hemisphere. In the 50 years he ruled he almost erased racism in Cuba as well as reduce illiteracy.
  • The Building of the Berlin Wall

    The Berlin wall was created by the German government to stop the escape of refugees. This caused turmoil in the US And Soviet blocks of Berlin.
  • US Troops in Vietnam

    US troops where placed in Vietnam to stop the spread of communism even further. This attempt proved fruitless though by the loss of the Vietnam war.
  • Revolution in Iran Begins

    The Iranian Revolution started due to the displeasure that the secret police brought to the people. They where being controlled to reelect the same person by force.
  • The Iran-Iraq War

    This highly explosive war was fought over a water way. the was fought with relentless bombing on natural resources which in turn effected America.
  • The Soviets Withdraw From Afghanistan

    The Soviets joined the Pro-communist movement in Afghanistan which was a long tireless battle. After 8 years of occupation the Soviets withdrew.
  • The Reunification of Germany

    After years of split country Germany was finally back in one piece. The German Democratic Republic joined the Federal Republic of Germany.With this Berlin was once again a whole City.
  • The Persian Gulf War

    Saddam Hussein was the leader of Iraq and he ordered and attack on Kuwait. With this other Middle-Easter countries called for Americas help. After relentless bombing and invasion most of the Iraqi threat was gone as a seize fire was issued.
  • The Collapse of the USSR

    In 1991 the USSR was done for as the leader was stepping down for the new state. Mikhail Gorbachev steeped down as president and in doing so made Russia an independent state.
