  • Period: 476 to 1450

    Feudalism in Europe

    Feudalism created a social structure. Serfs and peasants were at the bottom while lords and vassals remained in the middle, and the King was above all and at the top of the social structure.

    Tang and Song Dynasties

    Printing press was invented during this time which led to increased literacy rates and trade. Trade also increased around gunpowder and weapons. Also, social classes were appearing in China as religion was being more and more centralized

    Abbasid Caliphate

    When Umayyad rulers fell, they became Abbasids. They were innovators and very influential to the trans-European trade system. They influenced Europe to where Europe would use the same tactic Constantinople and Baghdad grew to represent the Golden Age due to those places growing to become big economic zones.

    Mali Empire

    With a quick growing society, Mali empire was able to utilize gold trade, culturalization, and islamic beliefs to become one of the great empires in history. Gana grew exponentially due to all of the sociecty expansions
  • Period: 1200 to 1521

    Mesoamerican Empires

    Tenochtitlan was the capital of the Aztecs as they ruled current day Mexico. Aztecs had their city in the middle of the lake and were great innovators and inventers. They were experts in irrigation. Incas were located on the andes mountain and lived in the capital of Cuzco.

    Delhi Sultanate

    The Delhi Sultanate had been a powerful area in India rising. The economic status grew ecause they would trade items such as fabrics, soices, cotton. Protecting against the mughal empire was their prime because the Mughals were very powerful and eventually rose to power in India.

    Mongol Empire

    The mongols were led by genghis khan. Mongols were innovators as they advanced in bridges, astronomy, gunpowder, and intellectuals such as painting and literature. Mongols practiced islamic faith. Russia was very powerful and had high tension with the mongols. Mongols went down as one of the most powerful empires of all time

    Yuan Dynasty

    Yuan Dynasty reigned through the Ming Dynasty that they founded. The Ming Dynasty would reign for around 300 years

    Ottoman Empire

    Arguably the most powerful empire of all time, the ottomans were the trade center between east and west asia for centuries. They were strengthened in militia and economics and arts.

    Bubonic Plague

    Bubonic plague came from China and transfered to europe through fleas on the Silk road and overseas mainly through trade and cultural expansion. Also known as the Black Plague, wiped out a third of the population.

    European Reaissance

    Coming after the Plague, people looked for new ideas and commodities. This led to creative arts, science, more inventions, intelects, and many more

    Ming Dynasty

    After the Yuan Dynasty, Ming rose to power in stabilizing trading systems and economics. Industries grewand popular cities housed royalty within the forbidden city
  • Period: 1450 to 1550

    Portuguese Trading Post Empire

    The portuguese grew to be a really important in Atlantic trade. With developing weapons, wealth, and power, they used african trading posts to grow the empire even further. Because of Portuguese not being very big in population, they were not able to maintain the posts.

    Spanish Colonial Empire

    No surprise that the Spanish were very powerful during this time. Thanks to their government, strong military, and early jump on trade they remain strong till today. Spanish has always been opening trade routes and rulling their conqured empires. Spanish is still pwerful today

    Age of Exploration

    Europe started to expand its colonies in want of the three G's. God, Glory, and Gold.They wanted to spread christianity, be worshiped by their homelands, and find bunches of wealth. This led to the discovery of the New World that also led to the death of many native indians who were there before the europeans alianated it.

    The Reformation

    Churches began to be more suspicious as they began to become more and more corrupt and this led to riots by the people. As a result, people have more religous freedom thanks to the Jesuits.

    Mughal Empire

    Mughal rose to be very powerful post delhi sultanate. Culture was prided on as Islam grew and spreaded in Asia. With the increase in trade, culture also expanded with also.

    Atlantic Slave Trade

    Europeans grew more powerfull in the 15 century. and expanding into america led to the Atlantic slave trade and they would trade for slaves to go to the new world and work to help build a society with no benefits.

    Tokugawa Shogunate

    Known as one of the biggest eras of growth in Japanese history. The military, agriculture, and global interaction all expanded and developed greatly. Japan had began proving people wrong about being under developed. This also brought a strict social structure that seperates people by clothes, weapons, and economic status.

    Meiji Revolution

    This was the end of the Edo Period which was a time of strong japanese power comercially, agriculturally, and culturaly. It was focuse on the politics of Edo period. This helped japan modernize as it was well needed as they were behind western nations industrialized.

    led china to be more literate and better economically. Very important to china since they used to not be religiosly tolerant and fell behind in the global market. The qing dynasty turned china around and even put them ahead of powerful empires of the time.

    It was a good time in history, with people having more freedom on their thought, books, literacy, and art grew. People began to be more independent and began reaching outside traditional law and order which led to great inventions.

    Industrial Revolution

    Industrial Revolution was a time period of growth and innovations. More inventions were lead to factories being more productive and efficient but also caused labor to be mistreated. Although, it was great for consumers who could buy more for less.

    As great britain began taking advantage of the colonies, the colonies began to protest and not give in causing a war that led to the colonies winning and becoming independent from great britain. The declaration of idependence and many other famous documetns were writen in this time

    French Revolution

    Led by the enlightenment, people of french began realizing the corruptness of their government as the people were going through poverty, the rulers were living the dream. The lower people began to riot causing the revolution and in the end it put French more in debt.

    Haitian Revolutions

    Being a hot spot for slavery led for more powerful empires to take control over slaves. People were treated poorly leading to death on some occasions. Slave revolted as it seemed to be their last hope and it paid off as the are the only county to gain their freedom from slave revolting.

    Thanks to communication economically and politically, european nations were very powerful.The Berlin conference was set up to split up African territory, which was used in slave trade, political boundaries, and this weakened african economies for decades

    AS other countries began to gain, the ottoman empire began seeing their end. Military for other countries began to strengthen and also in other areas to wear the ottomans could no longer keep up

    CHinese citizens became addicted to the drug oppium from poppy. Britian decided to limit trade with china during this time which led to the oppium buisness shutting down. With china having a weak military they backed down but the farmers rebeled which led to the Taiping rebellion.

    The Qing dynasty nearly fell but lower class people who came together with higher class that rallied together to trade and get more power across China.

    Sepoy Mutiny

    An uprising from hindus and muslims against british soldiers. the british had mistreated and religiously restricted the hindus and muslims. They reacted to their restrictions violently which led to the british to fight back. India eventually won their independence.

    Scramble for Africa

    With the desire for land, European countries headed their way to africa for the easy takeover of land and money, Africa was easy to be taken over european countries started making profit off of cash crops that were able to be grown. Since Europe didnt let africa have any growth, they still have control in some places.
