Conception
Germinal stage: 0 weeks to 2 weeks
-Sperm fertilizes egg and becomes a zygote.
-The zygote travels to the uterus and plants itself in the uterine wall. My mom had returned from a mission trip in Mexico when she found out she was pregnant with me. There were no additional stressors. -
My Birth
It took 25 hours to birth me and I weighed 8 pounds and 10 ounces. I was posterior, so the doctor had to flip me over. -

Piaget Sensorimotor
Cognitive and motor development. Child discovers the difference between themselves and the environment. Develops motor skills like wiggling fingers, kicking their feet, and holding objects. -

Erikson Trust vs Mistrust
Where infants either learn to trust their caretakers to meet their basic needs, or develop mistrust when they are not consistently met. I developed trust because of my nice mom who did everything for me. -

My developing brain enables fine motor skills. I am learning to crawl, hold objects, suck my thumb, and develop object permanence like my black dog stuffed animal, Boomer. -

Erikson Autonomy vs Shame
Children are trying to assert their own will over themselves such as dressing themselves etc. If caregivers encourage them to explore, they will develop autonomy. If they are discouraged or controlled, they may develop a sense of shame/doubt about their abilities. I developed autonomy because my parents were very encouraging in regards to me exploring and trying things on my own. -

Children develop language and abstract thought. They are still egocentric and have trouble seeing things from other perspectives. -

Learning to talk, run, play, and develop social and environmental awareness and skills. Brain and physical growth approaching adolescence. During my childhood, I did summer camp and swimteam, basketball at the YMCA, played with my friends at recess, and read a lot of books. I began to develop distinguishing interests, like sports, cats, art, and books. -

Erikson Initiative vs Guilt
Where children between the ages 3-5 want to take initiative but also are at risk of feeling guilt if they overstep boundaries. My parents enrolled me in preschool and encouraged me to learn to read and draw. -

The stage of moral development where people follow social norms and rules because they want to be accepted by others. In middle school, I would adapt traits and interests that didnt come naturally to me, because I wanted to be liked and accepted. -

Erikson Industry vs Inferiority
Children learn new skills and build confidence. They may feel inadequate if they don't measure up to their peers or are validated. I took MAP testing and was placed in enrichment classes because of my high reading and math scores. I was validated by the industry, leading me to feel secure in my academic abilities and enjoy learning environments. -

Children begin to use logical operations on concrete objects. They can differentiate size and weight and height. -

Adolescence
Puberty: influx in hormones causing body and mood changes, maturing into adulthood.
Maturation of the prefrontal cortex and limbic systems. I am honing my interests, values, and developing ambitions for life. I enjoy reading, writing, sports, and my friends. -

The ability to think abstractly, reason logically, and solve problems using hypothetical deduction reasoning. -

Kohlberg Postconventional Morality
The stage of moral development where people make decisions off of their own morals and ethics. Now, I feel as if I have the most influence over how I feel and what I do. I rarely do things to be accepted and please others, and generally make decisions based in my own values and will continue to do so. -

emerging adulthood, early adulthood, middle adulthood, and late adulthood. Through this time I will be studying, beginning a career, getting married and starting a family, learning more about myself, developing new values, and going through several large milestones. Toward middle and late adulthood the body will begin to change and age. -

Erikson Intimacy v Isolation
Where young adults either are capable of expressing their feelings and experiencing healthy relationships, or are insecure and lack the ability to form close relationships. Currently I am experiencing this with friendships and interests. This will continue to be the case until I get married. -

The time period where people as adults do productive things to contribute to society, or do not contribute to society. During this time period, I will be working as a lawyer, having children, and even doing triathlons. I will not be stagnant. -
