    J. William Fulbright was a US Senator from Arkansas. He was one of the few people in the senate to try and fight the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. His moves in try to de-escalate the war made him popular with the protestors.

    Gulf Of Tonkin Resolution
    The early roots of this movement start when LBJ signed the gulf of Tonkin resolution after attacks on the USS Mattax in the gulf of Tonkin. Many believe these attacks where staged and didnt actually happen. The resolution called for troops to go to Vietnam. This kick started many protests as the governmnet had promised the country not to fight the war for South Vietnam.

    Mario Savio was at first a free speech movement activist. But he used his time in the free speech movement to create organized protests. These organized protests where used as a model for the vietnam protest. Mario Savio also participated in the anti war protests leading many of them.

    Operation rolling thunder was a very large bombing campaign in north vietnam. It saw the us of agent orange and napalm. This caused protests because it seemed like Americans where targeting and killing innocent Vietnamese people.

    Abbie Hoffman was a politician and Anti war activist. He was the one who talked and rallied people at most protests. He spoke at the anti war march in Washington. Another cool thing is he was the person during the anti war protest in forrest gump.

    During a cease fire for the holiday tet, the vietcong surprised attacked the US position catching them by surprise. This offensive was broadcasted live back home through TV. Americans saw US forces pinned down by fire. These images showed that the US wasn't winning the war and the government was lying about saying that they where.

    Many people fought against the war by refusing to be drafted. They believed the war was unjust and they could not support it.So when drafted they would gather and burn there draft cards.

    When Nixon ordered the US to send troops into cambodia many saw it as him escalating the war by changing from vietnam to cambodia. Many protester protested this move because Nixon was seen as the guy to de-escalate the war but it looked like he was escalating it.

On Feburay 15th 2003 thousands of people around the world protested the invasion. The only way that protest was possible was the anti war movemnet during Vietnam.
