The Trans Atlantic Slave Trade is when people traded slaves. It took place acroos the atlanic ocean from the 16th century to 19 century. North america only traded 5% of all known voyages. Only 4% of all slaves were from africa. The last country to ban the atlatic slave trade was brazil in 1831. -

The sewing machine was invented by Thomas Saint. His machine was meant to be used on leather and canvas. It has a double point with an eye at one end. -
Cotton Gin
The cotton gin was built to help take out the seeds from the cotton. What a person could do in 10 hours the cotton gin could do in a hour. It was invente for the south because the south had cotton farms. -
The Cult Of Domesticity
People belived that women should stay at home and shouldn't do any work outside of their house. They thought women should be more religious than men.They should be pure in heart,mind and body. They should be loyal to there husbands and stay at home. -
Fedrick Douglas
Fedrick was born on february 1818 and died on february 20 1895. He became the leader of the abolitionsit movement. He belived that people were equally no matter if you were white,black.female or male. -
Missouri Compromise
The Missouri Compromise was passed so Missouri could be the only state that was a slave state above the southern border. Missouri was passed as a slave state and Maine was passed as a free state. -
Temprance Movement
The Temprance Movement was about alchoalic beverages. The first succsess for temprance movement was in maine which a law was passed on june 2, 1851 which was seen as a model for other states. -
Harriet Tubman
Harriet was born on march 1822 and died on march 10 1913. She escaped slavery to become a leading abolishonist. She helped alot of slaves get out of the south and into free land by the underground railroad. -
Lowell Mill Girls
In 1840 more than 8,000 textille workers were working there. Women who worked there only got paied 2 dollars a week. -
Irish Immigration
The reason the irish imgrated because of the potato famine. It was a disase in the potato. It made the irish flee into america with family memebers who were already there. -
The Great Migration
The first great migration happend between 1910 and 1930. They migrated for economic reasons and for segregation.
