Page Act of 1875

White coal miners target Chinese workers
Angered that they’re taking away “white” jobs, white coal miners attacked Chinese laborers in the Wyoming territory during what is now known as the Rock Springs Massacre. Leo Sun Tsung was 51 and was found in his hut with multiple wounds, including a bullet wound to the face

Angel Island opens in San Francisco Bay
The immigration station designed by Walter J Matthews at Angel Island opened in California’s San Francisco Bay, serving as the country’s major port of entry for Asian immigrants, with roughly 100,000 Chinese and 70,000 Japanese being processed through the station over the next 30 years.
