    The treaty of Versailles was the formal peace treaty that concluded WWl, however this treaty didn't help Germany's economy, by saying it needed to pay or reimburse other countries, or its government. Germany soon became angry and turned to Hitler. This lead to WWll

    On Jan. 30, 1933 - Hitler was sworn in as chancellor, after the past two chancellors failed to provide economic and political stability to Germany. He burned Reich stag and blamed it on his enemy. Then persuaded Hindenburg to give him absolute power

    The Olympics was going to be in Berlin before the Nazi's came to power, but it acted as a 'showcase' for Hitler. The Nazi's showed a united and strong Germany, who was increasing in military strength. This was before the persecution of Jews and other races.

    German invasion of Poland

    German forces launched a surprise attack on Poland, it was a quick and bloody war, and Poland had little chance of success. They falsely claimed the polish was plotting to make alliances and encircle Germany. When in actuality he thought of the polish as inferior.

    On Sept. 27, 1940- 1 year after the start of WWll, Germany, Italy, and Japan formed a formal alliance. It was mainly formed to hopefully deter the United States from entering the War.

    Nazi's establish gas chambers at Aushwitz

    Nazi's used chemically manufactured gas to kill any people who they deemed unworthy of life. In Aushwitz after it was built 600 POWs and 250 others were killed in this way.

    The Japanese military launched a surprise attack on the United States Naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. They hoped to gain oil resources and weaken America's military strength, but it turned into much more. 2,403 people died.

    Japanese Americans sent to internment camps

    10 internment camps were opened to house aprox. 120,000 Japanese Americans because the U.S. was fearful they could act as spies for Japan, however they never had evidence. They lived in these camps with less than conditions until the end of the war.

    Germany surrendered May 7, 1945 after Adolf Hitler died on April, 30th.

    D-day is where the U.S. and other allied forces landed on the shores of Normandy, and invaded Europe. This was the U.S. establishing a base or territory in Europe.

    This battle happened over a course of 3 months consisting of 70,000 U.S. marines and 18,000 Japanese soldiers. The island was secured by the U.S. after an extremely bloody battle.
    It was worth it to loose so many people because of the Island hopping campaign to essentially reach Japan.

    Hitler committed suicide, to try and save his honor, spare him and is wife from running in fear, and to hopefully prevent himself from facing a death like Mussolini's.

    Atomic bombs dropped on Japan

    2 US atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima followed by Nagaskai.
    The first one to try and get Japan to surrender and caused 120,000 deaths. The second was another attempt to get them to surrender as well a few days later, causing 73,000 deaths.
