Anna Kendrick
Anna Cooke Kendrick was born in Portland, Maine, on August 9, 1985. The daughter of accountant Janice (née Cooke) and history teacher William Kendrick. She has an older brother, Michael Cooke Kendrick, who has also acted. She is of English, Irish, and Scottish descent. She began performing in community theater at the age of six. -
Education
Kendrick attended Longfellow Elementary school and Lincoln Middle School. She graduated from Deering Highschool in 2003 and attended Bates College. -

Early Career
At age 12, she had a supporting role in the 1998 Broadway musical High Society. She was a lead performer with Cabaret's Kit Kat Club at "Carnegie Hall Live" (My Favorite Broadway: The Leading Ladies (1999)). She then went on to a supporting role in the 2003 New York City Opera production of Stephen Sondheim's musical "A Little Night Music". Her film debut was the musical Camp, she played as nerdy Fritzi Wagner. She also played an ambitious high school debater in Rocket Science (2007). -
