My name is Lee Toshima and i was born in a town called Manshouli in China. I live in my house with only my father since my mother died while she was giving birth to me. My dad has decided to make me go to America so I can "start a new life". Plus, he hopes that I can have a better time over their and experiance something new. I just hope everything will work out and that my dad will be right. I am writing this to tell you how i started my new life through America and how became successful. -
Historical Event 1, Arriving at Angel Island
Angel Island Information
The boat that has taken me across the Pacific Ocean to America. I have just arrived at Angel Island and feel excited. I remembered though I wont be able to get started on my new life just yet. I will have to go through all of all the inspections. Then I can finally enter the country of America. My new life is a just couple steps away. When this is over, the first thing that I am going to do find a way to make good money. -
Historical Event 2, Gold Rush
I am going to find some virgin ground in California. Here I can see if their will be gold their where no one has mined at that area yet. I just left to find this secret place because I know I will be for a while. I have to make sure it is a good area to mine at and it stays secret. I am hoping that I will strike it rich in gold. Then I will be able to get rich off of just mining gold for a living. It might sound really easy, but I know it wil be tough to find large amounts of old. -
Historical Event 3, Sarting the TCRR
After a long, exausting 13 years of looking for gold, I quit completly. All I was doing is breaking even and not making any money.I decided to go work on the TCRR. I know I will be able to get money or land from this. Sure I will have to work in hot heat, and risk my life doing it, but I really could use the money. By doing this, I would have helped on one of America's biggest things they build. People from all over the country can be transported from the East to the West coast. -
Historical Event 4, TCRR Finished
First Transcontinental Railroad
The TCRR has been completed today after a couple years. Thanks to us, citizens can now be transported across the entire country. Plus, new towns are going to start being built near the railroads.This will help the growing populations.A huge celebration was held when it was finished and everyone was so happy. Since the government could not pay in money, we got land instead. So now I am going to claim what is mine
and move there. -
Historical Event 5, Moving to the Plains
I found the land that I can claim and is now my property. Over the past month, me and other people helped me buid a small house.Of course I payed them but now I can have a real house to live in. I now live in the Great Plains but I am next to the TCRR. This gives me a great advantage to have the best way of transportation right next to me. I can start to live better then how I started when I came here. I have a great place to live and maybe soon try to start a family.
