This was the last major offense by Europe as they tried to push the allied line from France to Belgium. This happened because Germany wanted to push the allied/ American defense line further back. This lead to a lot of American soldier and civilian casualties. -

One third of marine casualties occurred in result of this war. This occurred in Iwo Jima because the US wanted places to store planes for battle close to their rivals. This lead to many casualties. -

Called operation iceberg and was the largest amphibious landing in the pacific. The battle was step one of the US plan and they captured Okinawa. This lead to the largest Japanese casualties. -
VE Day
VE Day was the day of celebration between the allies that Germany had surrendered to the war and marked the end of WW2. -

The US dropped bombs on parts of Japan. This was done because they wanted to verify the end of war between US and Japan. This lead to the full surrender of Japan. -
VJ day
VJ Day was the celebration and ceremony in which Japan announced to the allies their full surrender to the war.
