Jackson's Birth
Andrew Jackson was born on March 15, 1767, in Waxhaws to Elizabeth and Hutchinson jackson. -
Jackson Enlists in the Revoltutionary Army
America declared war against England. Shortly after Jackson would enlist to join the army. Jackson would go on and fight and lead in many important battles, such as the Battle of New Orleans and the Battle of Horseshoe Bend. -
Battle of Horseshoe Bend
General Andrew Jackson leads 6,000 soldiers to fight off a native america tribe. Jackson and his men end up victorious and gain this region from them. -
Battle of New Orleans
In the War of 1812 british troops went to ambush and destroy the port of New Orleans. Andrew Jackson led the American troops and fought to victory in this battle. -
Election of 1824
Andrew Jackson is running for president against John Q. Adams and Henry Clay. Jackson wins the percentage of the votes, but not more than 50%. Adams the has to run against Adams in the House of Representatives. Adams gains Clay's support by promising him a gov. job if he wins the election. Because of Clay and Clay's people's support, Adams would proceed to win the election. -
Election of 1828
Andrew Jackson, a democratic-republican is running for president against current prestident, John Quincy Adams, who is a federalist. Jackson would go on and defeat Adams to become the next president. -
Nullification Crisis
The Tariff of 1828 was passed and it placed tax on imported goods. This act hurt the southern colonies because they traded with Europe not with money, but with goods. South Carolina said they could nullify this law and threatened to seceed from th union. Jackson finally gave in on the Compromise of 1833. -
Indian Removal Act
President Jackson signed this Act stating that lands unsettled west of the Mississippi were the U.S.'s and that the Indians couldn't live there. Many tribes left peacefully, but many others resisted. -
Worcester vs. Georgia
Samuel Worcester believed that the Cherokee did not have to move from their ancient homeland. The Supreme court ruled in favor that the Cherokee didn't own the land and therefore they were removed. -
The Bank War
Andrew Jackson campaigned against the creation of the second national bank. Jackson strongly disliked the idea of a national bank and wanted it to be destroyed.
