Election of 1828
Andrew Jackson and One term president John Quincy Adams ran against each other. Jackson won by a landslide agains Adams, making Adams the 2nd president to only serve one term. Jackson then implemented the spoil system and replaced Quincy's White House Staff with his people. -

Worcester v. Georgia
Worcester, a Cherokeee Indian, sued the State of Georgia for trying to kick them off their land. It eventually went to the Supreme Court and John Marshall ruled in favor of Worcester. -
Nullification Crisis
South Carolina passed the Nullification Act declaring the protective tariff illegal. They threatened to secede if it was not lifted. In the end Henry Clay designed a compromise that reduced the tariff, but also gave the president more power to use military action if a state threatened to secede again. -
Bank War
Andrew Jackson disliked the National Bank created by Federalist Alexander Hamilton because it gave too much power ro the Federal Government. The Bank's Charter officially expired in 1836, when the Bank was gone it cut back on loans which hert the farmers in the west.
