On January 8th, 1815, the British advanced on New Orleans with Andrew Jackson and his troops waiting. The battle of New Orleans marked the end of the war and Andrew Jackson became a national hero. -

in 1832 Jackson began a campaign removal act to remove tribes east of the Mississippi river. -
nullification crisis
Nations crisis out of the tariff issue and state's rights. North favored high tariffs but South was against it. Jackson supporters wanted changes in the tariff rates. To embarrass Adams some members of congress increased duties on raw materials while lowering the tariff on manufactured textiles. Calhoun says they should nullify, but Webster said they couldn't. -
Trail of Tears
In 1838-1839, as a result of the Indian removal policy, the cherokee nation had to give up their land and migrate to present day Oklahoma. This journey is called the Trail of Tears because many died and got sick.
